Insight Counselling & Therapy

About

Meet Dean

I am an integrative counsellor offering online and in-person therapy for adults across the UK. My approach draws from psychodynamic and attachment-focused therapy, which means I am interested in how your early experiences and relationships continue to shape how you relate to yourself and others today.

Therapy with me is not about fixing you…. it is about understanding you.

Background

Before training as a counsellor, I spent over a decade supporting children and young people in schools and community settings. Later, I worked closely with families affected by the Grenfell Tower tragedy. That experience had a profound impact on me. It showed me, again and again, the importance of having a space where you can feel truly seen, heard, and held without judgement.

It was from this work that I chose to train formally as a counsellor, deepening my commitment to emotional wellbeing, connection, and authentic human relationship.

My way of working

In our work together, I aim to offer a steady, non-judgemental space where you can begin to notice what is really happening for you. I listen closely not only to what is said, but to what might feel harder to put into words. Sometimes that means sitting quietly with what feels unclear. Sometimes it means gently exploring patterns that have been with you for a long time.

I work in a relational way, which means the relationship between us really matters. I believe that feeling understood, rather than analysed or “fixed”, is often what allows change to begin. I will offer gentle challenge when it feels helpful, and I will always respect your pace.

Clients often describe sessions as calm, grounded and real. There is space for seriousness, for uncertainty, and sometimes even for a little humour. All of it is welcome.

Who i work with

People come to therapy for many different reasons. Some arrive with a clear sense of what they want to work on. Others come with a quieter feeling that something simply does not feel right. You do not need to have a clear story before we begin.

I often work with people who are:

  • Feeling stuck, overwhelmed or disconnected
  • Living with anxiety, low mood or emotional exhaustion
  • Carrying the impact of past relationships or early experiences
  • Navigating life changes, loss, or uncertainty
  • New to therapy and unsure where to begin
  • Wanting a space to talk openly without judgement or pressure
  • You are welcome whether you arrive with many questions, or with none at all.
